The mediums I choose these days find themselves primarily in theater, performance and visual arts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A vast amount of my work is currently being produced with theater group Terminal 8; founded together with Micah Westera and Cecilia Bergh\u00e4ll we strive to bring bold, contemporary theater on stages throughout the Netherlands and Europe.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">My works often start with the fascination of a very simple element that I encounter &#8211; a feeling, an environmental detail or a simple shape and color. I abstract that element to build the basis of an artistic concept. This concept I quickly put into space in playful manners to research how this element is relating to the space-that-is-there. While the results are often very entangled in a specific location, my goal is always to create a work that could be put anywhere &#8211; and as such, completely change the story it brings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">As an artist specializing in scenography; time, space, and the spectator play crucial roles in my work. Whether I work with script, raw physical material or pure imagination, the experience of an overall aesthetic atmosphere should be what drives an emotional experience of the artwork.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through my professional career I hope to bring more spatial and experiential poetry into the visual and performative fields of art. I strive to collaborate on this as much as possible, with people of course, but also materials and spaces. During the making I put a lot of emphasis on the dramaturgy of my designs &#8211; how can I make it relate on a deeper level to the others&#8217; &#8211; actors, architecture, stories &#8211; that are sharing the space?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As a multidisciplinary artist I emphasize performativity in my works.
